The Big Bang Theory - the funniest TV show around?
A Modern Comedy Classic
I don't know why I didn't pick up on The Big Bang Theory when it first appeared on our TV screens. I guess I don't watch masses of television and maybe it was on at a 'odd' time for me. Friends at work mentioned it and told me I'd really like it, it was just up my street, but from their descriptions I didn't really get it. Two geeky physicists share an apartment, where across the hall a pretty but savvy waitress lives. The two guys and their dorky friends love sci-fi, science and comic books, but are hopeless with girls. Roll on comic capers and funny discussions about all things nerdy. What? |
How I got hooked on TBBT

Bazinga!
I'm probably going to have to blame my sister for finally introducing me to The Big Bang Theory. Every time we met, some kind a reference to one episode or another came up. The word 'Bazinga!' got used now and then and I really didn't know what she was talking about.
One day she told me how she'd met with a friend and her young daughter, and how they'd gone to a kids' play area with her. There she, (my sister that is) took great joy in recreating a favourite moment from season 3, 'The Einstein Approximation' episode, in a ball pit they found there!
Now I was really confused - what was she going on about? But the image stuck in my mind...
It was only when we recently moved and our lives changed that we found we were watching TV at a different time. One of the TV channels was showing the reruns of all the seasons of TBBT and we thought we'd finally take a look. Oh my! I knew what she was talking about now! And we haven't stopped laughing since...

Once we were hooked we spent every evening watching two more episodes. It's taken a while but I think we're up to date now; waiting for the next season.
From a group of geeky guys and a waitress you wouldn't imagine there would be so many funny situations, and then there's the nods to, and 'spin-offs' of classic sci-fi and fantasy films and TV. Over the seasons characters have been added, Stuart at the comic book store, Will Wheaton (yes, the guy from Star Trek) and ladies, Bernadette and Amy, to add complications to the relationships with the boys. We have some favourite moments too. Do you remember when the guys came across 'the ring' from the Lord of the Rings films? Or Sheldon's Halloween prank? What about the security system? There are too many to mention. If you haven't seen The Big Bang Theory you really must. There are a few clips below that will give you a taste of some of what you've missed so far. You must join in and enjoy the wonders of a modern classic and one of the funniest series on TV. |

If you haven't seen it you'll know what I've been talking about if you watch this. If you have - watch it anyway!
